in 1977, James Bond sank a Lotus Esprit S1 in the sea here on the Costa Smeralda. The car is gone, but one of the prettiest Bond hotels of all time is still located on Sardinia: the Cala di Volpe

James Bond stayed at this hotel with Anya Amasova in The Spy Who Loved Me (1977). You can't checkin to his room though as it was actually the hotel's piano bar.
