The castle was a feudalism museum in German Democratic Republic. In socilism philosophy means "feudalism" the order coming before capitalism. One section of exhibition was the German Peasants' War.

Wernigerode Castle was first mentioned as a "castrum" in 1213. But during the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648) the castle is no longer defensible.

The stately home is similar in style to Neuschwanstein Castle but it's much older. The first mention was in 1213. Last building alteration finished in 1893. Now it's a museum for local history.

Einer der schönsten Blicke über ganz Wernigerode. Interessantes Museum und toller Ort für Konzerte. Mit parken wirds eher schwieriger. Da empfiehlt sich die gelbe Straßenbimmelbahn.
