Beautiful! Closed @ e moment. No indication of when e reopening is. Well maintained. One of the cat murals is in here and you can still snap a picture through the fence even though the place is closed

Formed in 1810 by members of the Cheah clan, the oldest of the 5 major Hokkien clans in Penang. The main tempe was completed in 1870 with Peranakan, Malay, British & Chinese architectural influences.

In the past this was our favorite Kongsi in Penang. Today the people there were very inhospitable. Anyone following their welcome signs walked a long way, then got sent back out--all in the rain!

Lions might be used to impress the British in the olden days, instead of qi ling. Cheah Kongsi was a clan house, and a place to pray for the Cheah ancestors and dieties, not a temple. #myth
